PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – Pittsburgh is the home to several different festivals and
events to keep its cultural district alive, and this year it adds another. The Thaw is a three
weekend long festival, each with a different theme to bridge the gap between winter and
spring. As it enters its final stretch this weekend, The Thaw emphasises the coming
warmer weather.
On the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s website, they describe the festival as having
“live music, immersive entertainment, and seasonal festivities”. Each day of the festival
starts with family friendly activities, and shifting to live performances in the evening.
Previous activities included watching the construction of intricate ice sculptures, heading
into the lounge for pub trivia and a drag show, and several different interactive points for
photos. During Saint Patrick’s day weekend, a celebration of Irish culture was put on by
different Irish bands.
To celebrate the last weekend of The Thaw, a massive 12-foot snowman will be melted
along with a firework display. In addition to the fire performances, the evenings each
have a different musical guest, with headliners like Sneezy and Dani Rose.
The events and concerts are free to all, and will be held today, tomorrow, and Sunday at
Market Square.
