Life sciences building at Pitt Greensburg now open for students

Pittsburgh, PA (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s new Life Sciences Building opened for student-use in early January of this year, just in time for the start of the spring semester.

The building is connected to Smith Hall through a chemistry wing, effectively bringing the 1970s science building and the new Life Sciences building together as one. Boasting two stories and 32,085 square feet, the Life Sciences building has the technology to accompany all nursing and science majors.

With anatomy and physiology, analytic chemistry, general biology, general/advanced chemistry, microbiology, and organic chemistry lab rooms, the facility gives students the proper education that they will need in their chosen job field. There are several nursing-specific areas of the building as well, including a clinical lab, simulation suite, and computer lab.

The simulation suite gives nursing students a real feel of what it would be like to assist patients without the aid of a proctor. Using a two-way mirror, instructors can watch their students as if they were in a real hospital setting, evaluate them, and give feedback.
