The University of Pittsburgh’s Student Government Body is holding it’s 2025 Election

PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP)- The University of Pittsburgh’s 2025 elections for its Student
Government Body will be taking place on March 11. The SGB represents the students, and
advocates for their rights, as well as pushing for their own administrations initiatives.


The ballot features sophomores Marley Pinske, who will be running with Olivia Budike as her
Vice President. Pinske and Budike will be running against Sophomores Mercy Akanmu as
President and Evan Levassuer as her Vice President.


Pinske and Budike’s main initiatives revolve around the advocacy of renters rights for students,
as well as adding more transportation options as well as improving safety. Budike has served on
SGB’s facilities and transportation chair. Akanmu and Levasseur intend on increasing funding
clubs receive, while also continuing to improve Pitt Eats dining options for students. Levassuer’s
relationship with Pitt Eats will aid them in the process of improving these dining options, as well
as food safety. Both hope to increase diversity within the University’s enrollment.


Students will have the opportunity to vote for not only their desired Presidential candidate, but
also three board members, with choices including candidates from 3 slates, Ignite, Rooted, and
Thrive. These slates serve as political parties however candidates are selected individually from
each party. There are 7 available seats for new board members. Students will receive an email
with ballots allowing them to vote. Results of the election will be announced at Nordy’s Place on
March 11.
