Trump Announces Possible Running Mate

NEW YORK, NY – On Sunday, Republican front-runner and former President Donald Trump revealed who he is considering as his potential running mate in the upcoming November election.

While Mr. Trump announced that he’s not planning to reveal his final pick anytime soon, he did disclose the two possible prospects to appear alongside him on the ticket. The first of these two is South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, the highest-ranking black Republican GOP. Scott has endorsed Mr. Trump countless times in the past, his most recent being at the New Hampshire primary, an extreme blow to fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley. The former president’s second possible running mate is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a long-time and fierce supporter of Trump. Noem gained traction in 2020 when she refused to implement strict mask mandates in North Dakota. Noem was one of the first governors to endorse Trump, announcing her backing of him last September. Four other names that made the shortlist include New York Representitave Elise Stefanik, the number four House Republican and another fierce defender of Trump, North Dakota Govornor Doug Burgum, who never once said anything negative about the former president when he was a candidate himself in the 2024 race, and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, who was one of the longest-serving cabinet secretaries during Trump’s administration. Among the frontrunners, Scott and Noem seem to be in the lead.

With Trump appearing to have clinched the nomination after winning in both the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries, voters alike wait to see who the 77-year-old will pick to be on the ticket with him in November.
