PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh Men’s Club Rugby team was founded in 1981 and allows all males the opportunity to participate in the sport, no experience needed to play.
The club plays in the MAC (Mid-Atlantic Conference), and plays against other schools clubs like Louisville, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Cincinnati, and more. The clubs use their own money and fundraise to help make these games possible.
In the fall, the men play 15’s which is considered the normal type of rugby with 15 players on the field at all times. Meanwhile, in the springtime, the club plays 7’s, which allows only 7 players on the field at any given time and is much more fast paced.
With around 40 members on the team, there are multiple academic and career opportunities you can receive from being a part of the team. The players have built a special brotherhood with one another that has helped them during and after college.
It is highly recommended and encouraged that people try out for the rugby team, even if you have no experience prior to trying out.
