University of Pittsburgh: Women’s Lacrosse

PITTSBURGH (PTTP) – In women’s lacrosse action, the Pitt Panthers faced a formidable challenge as they clashed with the reigning NCAA champions and ACC powerhouses, Boston College, on February 24th. Despite their best efforts, Pitt succumbed to a 3-19 defeat against the dominant Boston College team.

Established in 2018, with its inaugural season in 2019, Pitt women’s lacrosse has faced tough
competition since its inception, particularly in the highly competitive ACC. With teams like
UNC, Virginia, and Syracuse boast impressive national championship pedigrees, and the Panthers have continuously strived to make their mark in the challenging landscape of college women’s lacrosse.

However, the Panthers showed resilience and determination as they bounced back from their
defeat, securing a resounding 17-6 victory over Detroit Mercy on February 26th. Junior standout
players, Ava Washington and Jenna Hendrickson led the charge, each contributing three goals to
secure the win for Pitt.
