New Wellness and Recreation Center Being Built at the University of Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh currently has multiple recreation
centers such as one on the third floor of the William Pitt Union and the largest one in the
Peterson Event Center. However, there is a new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on its
way.

Just down the road from the Peterson Event Center, this new center is being built across from the
Swanson School of Engineering where the old Learning Research and Development Center used
to be. Ground has been broken and this center is starting to be built. Sustainability, connectivity,
and improved infrastructure are just a few highlights of the new wellness center. It is said to
include basketball courts, a jogging track, swimming pools, a stress free zone among much more.
It will also include healthy food options such as smoothies, poke bowls and other foods made by
local chefs and nutritionists. There are many options to be mindful of one’s health. Their focus
being on mental and physical health, and community and connection.

The Campus Recreation and Wellness Center is hoped to be finished during the 2024/2025
school year and be open to students and staff.
