PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — Many scouts and coaches attended Pitt Football’s annual Pro Day at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex this week, as eligible Panthers prepared for the 2026 NFL Draft.

For the city of Pittsburgh, the lead-up to the draft is more important this year than any other. Hosting the draft is expected to bring national attention, economic activity, and increased visibility to both the franchise and the university program. This city has been known for NFL talent, and Pro Day helps portray the connection between the university program and professional franchise, like the Steelers.

For the Steelers, hosting the draft in Pittsburgh offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with fans nationwide while reminding football fans from all teams of the organization’s historic ties to the city. The event is expected to draw large crowds, promote local businesses, and highlight Pittsburgh as a football destination.

For Pitt, the timing boosts its place within the NFL. With executives already in the city for Pro Day, their proximity allows for extra eyes on the Panthers.

The city’s large exposure benefits both teams, as prospects gain visibility and the city solidifies its role as a central hub in the football environment.
