PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP)- The NFL Draft is coming to Pittsburgh on April 23 through 25. With an estimated over 500,000 people traveling to watch the event, urban planners in the Pittsburgh area like the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership need to plan ways to help capitalize on the amount of people coming.

PDP is working on Project Popup, which entails filling over 30 empty storefronts with new local businesses as well as adding popups Downtown and the Northshore area. The Studio by Pittsburgh Candle will open Downtown on Wood Street on March 28. This is a build your own candle place and gift shop that is hoped to bring more traction to the area.

The efforts to revitalize Downtown have been going on since 2023. Although the project was not created soley for the NFL Draft, the PDP says that Pittsburgh becoming a national location in the upcoming weeks makes this project more important than ever, as well as the importance of small businesses preparing for the massive amounts of customers.
