PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) – Con Alma is a jazz bar and restaurant situated in Downtown Pittsburgh. Con Alma brings live jazz to the area, showcasing jazz bands six nights a week. While this popular venue is continuing to build the jazz community, there have been some struggles behind the scenes.
The Shadyside location of Con Alma ultimately had to shut down due to lasting struggles from COVID-19 and the decision to open a second location. The owners, Aimee Marshall and Josh Ross, established a GoFundMe page earlier this year to raise funds for their business. In just a few days, they raised over $30,000.
With their fundraising efforts coming to a close just this past month, the restaurant has raised enough to stay in business and secure the Downtown location. The owners have previously commented on Pittsburgh’s lack of live jazz experience, which makes this venue important to the community.
