PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The Artemis II space mission has released photos from its lunar flyby on Tuesday, as the spacecraft looped around the moon. They are the first astronauts in over fifty years to fly around the moon, making this a historic moment for the twenty-first century.

Among the photos released of the flyby, some document a truly unique event. From the astronauts’ perspective, the moon completely covered the sun for about 54 minutes, meaning they experienced a solar eclipse while behind the moon.

The Artemis II mission is still currently on course to arrive back on Earth safely on April 10th, marking the end of their ten-day journey. President Trump has already spoken to the astronauts while in orbit, congratulating them on their achievement for America.
