PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — At the University of Pittsburgh, the Pitt News brings the voices of students into the limelight! That’s why they cover the moves of Pittsburghers both on and offline. This week, that means delving into Cathy climbers and Clavicular.

Everyday, students train their brains across the 42 floors of the Cathedral of Learning. But some Pittsburghers are getting creative on what muscles to work on those steps. For years, students and community members have trekked up and down Cathy to boost their cardio. Inside the landmark building, individuals can prepare for bike rides and hikes, while not worrying about outside weather conditions. Along this journey, some have even found a community of likeminded climbers. For more, read “Reliable, safe, and intense: Pittsburgh community turns Cathedral of Learning stairs into training grounds” by Ella Pochron.

Climbers are not the only people focused on physical fitness. Online “looksmaxxers” have taken the internet by storm with their extreme methods in the pursuit of attractiveness. Maxine Van Nortwick’s article “‘Obviously a loser’: Pitt students express their disapproval of hypermasculinity,” discusses how this online movement fits into a broader history of how hypermasculinity is valued in society. Furthermore, she gauges the student population’s reaction to this movement and key its figures, like the streamer Clavicular.
