PITTSBURGH (PTTP) – In honor of the NFL Draft, city officials kicked off “Picksburgh” with music guests, new restaurants, and the opening ceremony of Market Square.

Pittsburgh’s Market Square debuted its renovations on Wednesday, right before the start of the draft. The ribbon-cutting ceremony included many city and state officials, like Governor Josh Shapiro, Mayor Corey O’Connor, and Allegheny County Executive Sarah Innamorato. This kicked off the official start of “Picksburgh”, a city-wide celebration of the draft.

In Market Square, the public was able to enjoy live music, drinks, and even a visit from the Penguins’ own mascot, Iceburgh. The celebration also took time to recognize the small businesses that help make up Market Square.

After the kickoff, a “music crawl” took place, leading the party to businesses like Con Alma, Club Café, Elk’s Club, and more.

The NFL Draft will continue through Saturday, with celebratory events throughout the city. While some say there are concerns about the influx of crowds, others have been basking in the free entertainment provided.
