ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa (PTTP) – The Pittsburgh Pirates are not only returning to spring
training this week, but so is their initiative to support small local businesses. The Pirates are
partnering with PNC financial services for the fifth consecutive season to highlight six local
small businesses, one a month during the baseball season, to collaborate on marketing efforts for
each of the businesses. This joint effort is titled, “Going to Bat for Small Businesses”.
The marketing efforts are a package valued up to $100,000 that include broadcast drop ins by
Pirates broadcasters, luxury suite nights, social media promotion with the business logo, in- park
digital signage, 30 second TV and radio commercials produced by the Pirates, and more. These
small businesses are also granted $5,000. This immense exposure is designed to generate
awareness to the small local business community.
The 2023 winners of this contest were And Flowers, Live Fresh Cold Pressed Juice and
Smoothie Bar, Nancy’s Revival, Arkenstone Technologies, The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore,
and Lua Dance Club.
These deliberate efforts are done to support local small businesses, because they are recognized
to be cornerstones of the Pittsburgh community. The Pirates and PNC invest in the pride of
entrepreneurship with their abundant resources to propel these small businesses forward.
Businesses can nominate themselves and the only requirement is to be within Allegheny County.
The deadline is February 18 as a committee of past winners, community organizations, media
members, and local area chamber of commerce personnel will decide the six 2024 winners.
