PITTSBURGH (PTTP)- Matt Hawley attended the University of Pittsburgh from 2013 to 2017 and has made his mark ever since. Although he is not a familiar name to many, his photos have crossed the feeds of almost all Pitt fans. Since graduation, Matt has been a full time Photographer for Pitt Athletics. From capturing special moments like Kenny Pickett’s fake slide to a National Championship for Pitt Wrestler Nino Bonaccorsi, Matt has established himself at Pitt in photography.
Arriving on campus as a fan of the school’s athletics he immediately engaged himself in the world of sports at Pitt. After going to as many games as he could, he eventually found himself being a Pitt Panther Student Section leader. Along with that he ended up landing a role with the Pitt Women’s Basketball as a Student Manager. Eventually, he garnered more interest for photography with getting his start at The Pitt News. Continuing to do photography, he did freelance to build a portfolio which helped him land a role with Pitt Athletics after graduation.
Matt continues to cover Pitt Athletics for photography and hopes to capture special moments for years to come.
