GREENSBURG, PA (PTTP) – On Feb. 21, Pitt-Greensburg hosted a “Wingstravaganza” for Pitt Greensburg’s day of giving. This event incorporated the installing of a pair of wings from the Westmoreland County Trust Fund on Pitt-Greensburg’s campus, and after, a hot sauce and trivia challenge.
To begin this ‘Wingsfest’, Westmoreland County unveiled a pair of artwork wings. These latest wings, crafted by local artist Patrick Mahoney and skillfully installed by Jeannette-based Fejes Signs, showcase iconic images reflecting the Pitt-Greensburg campus.
After the unveiling wrapped up, attendees tried the Wingstravaganza hot sauce and trivia challenge. Five hot sauces, specially crafted by Chartwells Dining Service, were offered for the campus and the community.
Pitt Greensburg’s President, Dr. Robert Gregerson, said he wanted this event to involve the community, and not just the campus itself.
“We’re part of the community. Greensburg is in our name. So we take that very seriously. This community gives us a lot. And, I believe, in return we give the community a lot. We share a lot of who we are with the community… I think It’s a mutually beneficial community we’ve developed over these past 60 years,” he said.
Wings Across Westmoreland, launched in 2018, has become a regional sensation, with 11 installations across Westmoreland County, including Greensburg’s Art in the Alley and Youngwood’s Five Star Trail. The hashtag #WCTWings has become synonymous with these unique selfie spots.
As the Wings continue to soar, Westmoreland Cultural Trust plans its 13th installation in New Kensington, PA, in the coming months.
