Pitt SGB meeting occurs, some changes are expected to be made around campus

The student government board recently had a meeting and discussed some important topics such as installing more AED’s in campus buildings, presidential elections, and other prominent matters.

On Feb. 12, there was a debate held for the presidential candidates and the Sarah Mayer was the lone candidate. Being the only candidate for President, Sarah Mayer looks to have locked up the position as the next president of the student government board at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Environment Health and Safety committee has bought thirty new AED systems to be installed around campus. Some locations that are being discussed to get new systems are academic buildings like Clapp Hall, Chevron Science Center, and Eberly Hall. According to Vice President of Policy Sarah Mayer; there will also be a rescue ready kit with typical first aid items such as CPR masks, and gloves.

There was also discussion about confusion with restaurants taking dining dollars and panther funds brought up by Vice President of operations Sarah Siddiqui. Some locations in Oakland say they take dining dollars or panther funds, but don’t in fact take them. This has been raising frustration and confusion to students and it is being taken into account by the board.

The official elections are coming up soon, but for now the topics discussed at the meeting will be addressed soon.
