PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP)- Pitt Athletics inducted two commentators into their Hall of Fame. Athletic Director Heather Lyke gave Bill Hillgrove a call letting him know that himself and the late Dick Groat will be inducted into the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame on September 13th 2024. Hillgrove has worked as a broadcaster for over 40 years and recently retired from the steelers after calling games for them for 20 years.
Dick Groat sadly passed away just last year at the age of 92. Groat is a part of National College Basketball Hall of Fame after an incredible career at Duke, where he also led the Blue Devils in baseball. He went on to play for 4 MLB teams in his 15 year career and is a part of the Pirates Hall of Fame. He then went on to lead a successful broadcasting career.
