University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown Hosts a Criminal Justice Forum

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (PTTP) – A forum on criminal justice and the possibility of reformation in our legal system will be hosted at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on March 21, at 5 pm. The forum will take place in the John P. Murtha Center for Public Service and National Competitiveness.

A diverse set of 5 speakers will come together to discuss topics like wrongful convictions, probation reform, marijuana decriminalization, and how to recruit and retain law enforcement officers. On top of all of the above, there will be a free dinner!

The forum will be hosted by the national advocacy group “Americans for Prosperity” and will be moderated by Ross Kleinstuber, PhD; an Associate Professor of Justice Administration and Criminology Sociology at Pitt-Johnstown.

Professor Kleinstuber notes the diversity of participants assembled for the forum. This includes State Representative Jim Rigby, a former Police Chief; Christi Smith, a senior fellow for criminal justice and civil liberties at the R Street Institute; Rob Cowburn, the Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania; State Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr., formerly an assistant district attorney; and Ryan Black, the Vice President of Americans for Prosperity.

Academics, legislators, former law enforcement officers, and attorneys will be discussing these issues and taking questions from the crowd. Professor Kleinstuber urges the community at Pitt-Johnstown, particularly students of the university, to take advantage of this opportunity and let their own voices be heard by people who could truly affect the system they live in.
