PITTSBURGH (PTTP)- On Friday, March 27th, Pittsburgh Technology Council will be hosting the Second Annual Pennsylvania Data Center and Energy Innovation Summit on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.

The event is looking to tell the story of manufacturing and reuse for data centers and data center factories within the Western Pennsylvania region. These new technological hubs are bringing in revenue for Pennsylvania in ways not seen in years on a manufacturing level according to Briand Kennedy, Senior Vice President of Operations and Government Affairs for Pittsburgh Technology Council. He says that for the first time in a while, he is seeing more factories arriving in the region than exiting.

Data centers in Western Pennsylvania have faced backlash from residents, including at a recent Springdale council meeting. Many spoke their minds about their negative feelings towards data centers according to Public Source, who stated that 5 out of 7 council members voted in favor of data devolvement despite their disdain for the action,

Kennedy addressed some of the backlash surrounding data manufacturing in Western Pennsylvania. He understands their concerns concerning noise pollution and environmental problems and is hoping the education at the conference will help others understand the benefits of the centers.

On the agenda are panels and keynotes  such as “Setting the stage: a moment of Pennsylvania”, “Empire of Lights: We Build It Here”, “The Power of Data Centers”, “The Infrastructure of Data Centers”, “NVIDIA and Coherent”, “American energy dominance in the AI Era”, and “Built on bedrock: How Homer City is Powering PA’s Next Economy”

This year’s event will be held from 7:45-5:00pm at the Landing Hotel and is sold out.
